Configuration and Maintenance FAQ
Why Can the Agent Not Answer After Data Is Connected?
Common causes include:
- The required dataset, dashboard, or enabled metric topic is not bound.
- Dataset field names are technical and lack business explanations.
- The question exceeds the available data scope.
- The connection expired or the account lacks access.
Check the bound BI assets in agent details, then confirm that the dataset can be previewed.
How Does an Ontology Relate to a Dataset?
Datasets provide actual data; ontologies explain its business meaning.
- A dataset tells the agent where data is.
- An ontology tells it what that data means.
- The agent combines both to answer business questions.
Does an Installed Industry Agent Need Configuration?
Yes, some configuration is needed. Industry agents provide established methods and an initial configuration, but customers use different assets, metric names, and definitions. Bind your data and ontology and adapt suggested questions before production use.
When Is an Agent Ready for Business Users?
Check that it:
- Answers 5–10 frequent business questions.
- Uses real data instead of generic advice.
- Applies metric definitions consistent with the business.
- Explains evidence and limitations.
- Meets data-security requirements for access scope.
Once these conditions are broadly met, pilot with a small group and improve from feedback.
Why Has Production Not Changed After Saving?
Save Draft on an existing agent only retains draft changes. When unpublished changes are indicated, test the draft, publish, and confirm to update production. Reference file changes also require publishing.
The initial creation page's save action creates the initial configuration and differs from saving a draft. See Save a Draft and Publish.
Why Can I Not Bind Multiple Ontologies?
An agent supports at most one ontology. Consolidate the scenario's objects, metrics, relationships, risks, and actions into one ontology before binding it.
Does Saved Knowledge Require Republishing?
It depends on the knowledge type:
- Agent knowledge becomes available to subsequent retrievals after saving and is shared with current and future users of that agent.
- Organization knowledge starts disabled. Once enabled, agents in the organization can retrieve it. Saved changes to enabled topics take effect immediately.
- Reference materials are agent configuration and require publishing to update production.
