Canvas Comments

Overview

Smart ETL introduces a comment feature to help users better understand and manage complex ETL editing processes, reducing maintenance and handoff costs.

Instructions

  1. Go to Data Center > Smart ETL, select a specific dataset, and open the ETL editing page.

  2. Click the plus button in the upper-right corner and select any position on the canvas to add a comment. This can be explanatory text for the entire data flow, a specific transformation step, or a field mapping.

  3. Comments may take up some visual space when editing large ETLs. Use the one-click hide/show comment feature to expand or collapse comments as needed and keep the canvas easier to read.

    Notes

    The import and export capabilities of Smart ETL include comment information. When users share or migrate ETL flows, comments are saved and transferred together with the ETL flow so recipients receive complete context, improving team collaboration efficiency and quality.
