Resource Lineage

1. Background Introduction

     Lineage management is one type of data lifecycle, including the origin of data and the complete path description to the current position, helping users trace information with specific purposes at each node during the analysis information usage process. We now support resource lineage tracing. For resource lineage, you can view the upstream and downstream link situations:

☞Upstream - Looking Forward: "Who" processed "me", achieved through "Lineage Analysis" to track and record key information.

☞Downstream - Looking Backward: "Who" did "I" support processing, through "Impact Analysis" to understand the downstream data information of the analysis object, quickly grasp the possible impact of metadata changes and assess risks.

2. View Entry

Resource Lineage: Nodes are resources, lines represent dependency relationships. Reference and impact relationships between various resources (such as dataset->dashboard), reference relationships between similar resources;

Currently supported resource lineage view entries:

(1) Dashboard pages

(2) Mobile light applications

(3) Data screens

(4) Datasets (various direct connection datasets, extracted datasets, manual tables, ETL output data flows, etc.)

(5) Data accounts

(6) ETL front and back lineage relationships

     From left to right according to data account — dataset — ETL — ETL output data flow (if used) — dashboard page — mobile light application that applied the page cards.

Click on any node to display detailed information of that node, as shown in the figure below, you can more quickly and intuitively see dependencies and impacts.
